Wow, I just was informed that the dairies in Tillmook Ore. recieved a $7 paycut from Dec to Jan! I know here in Wa it'll be about $3. What is sad is it appears hardly anyone really cares. Oh sure a few AP stories and a local TV station interviewed a friend but.... People want all these things cheapo and dont get that it has to come from somewhere. Retail prices are acually higher now then 1 year ago and we get %50 less for our product! Well I suppose I am preachin' to the choir here but man it… Continue

Hey Troy! Thanks for your comment on my blog. It's always nice to know I'm not the only one who feels that way. I was raised to believe it's just an animal and that's life and death...too bad I never followed that advice. I love my girls! Just wanted to let you know, we found the culprit behind the fumes. We were bedding with dry shavings and jypsum- dry wall dust particles. The jypsum had lime in it to help neutralize the bacteria and it worked pretty good. However, we found out it emits some kind of chemical, that when mixed with manure fumes during agitation, it creates a deadly gas. Needless to say, we've stopped using the jypsum...which we think is why we had 6 new mastits cases this morning. We can't win!

Troy, we do not have a mobile phone app. The Ning network has optimized viewing in web browser mode on my iPhone. Not sure what it would look like on a Blackberry. I have my account set up to receive e-mail alerts and click the links to load pages from e-mails.

Hello!
Well, first we had a terrible drough season, but at the end of the rain season (summer) the rain arrived; so our corn field, which had been irrigated before, is still too wet to begin the silage! The corn is already mature. We could harvest only little bit more than the half as corn sileage. The rest will be harvested in 2 weeks (mature corn). We are preparing to the winter crop, triticale, for sileage too, the optimal seeding time here for that is november.
Thanks for asking!

How are you doing there? is it too cold already?

Troy, it is an awesome experience...........I'm glad you liked the first seminar. Larry did his 5 min persuasive speech focused on the Methane Digester. I did mine on Butter-vs-Margerine. Are you going to attend the AgForestry dinner in Skagit County November 4th?
