Who we are and what we do

Cooperative University Dairy Students (C.U.D.S) is a Washington State University co-op, consisting of group of students who collectively manage a dairy herd operation. The CUDS herd size averages about 70 animals total, with about 35 lactating cows and 35 replacement calves, heifers, and dry cows. All of our milk is marketed to the WSU Creamery to be made into the famous Cougar Gold cheese. You may also know the creamery as they were the winners of the 2012 flavor faceoff.

All members work together as a group to make decisions regarding all phases of management in their herd. CUDS members are exposed to formulating and executing management decisions as well as performing the day-to-day duties of milking, feeding, record keeping, barn maintenance, heat detection, and artificial insemination.
