Anyone please help

I honestly need help. See my grandfather was Francis H Barnes of New Windsor MD. He died on 02/14/99. But during the 1980's he and his sister had one of the top butter fat dairy herds. The farm name was Fleetwood Farms located at 15125 Barnes Road New Windsor MD. You may have heard of him or the farm. But I can't find anything about him, the herd or the farm on the internet. I have NOTHING about him to remind he of what he did for the dairy industry. Do you have or know where I might be able to… Continue

International Dairy Crisis: México case (a dairyman point of view)

Things have been changig here in México those weeks. Now dairies are in hard troubles. Not only milk price has fallen down, but the market is reduced now. "Crisis" is the most heard word those days. We've been asked from the plant to decrease our production in 20%, which is very hard. I understand in the USA there is a system to send out cows to cull them, here we don't have any similar; but anyway, many dairyman (specially smaller ones and with low quality) are sending out cows. There is a… Continue

Oh sure a few AP stories and a local TV station interviewed a friend but.... People want all these things cheapo and dont get that it has to come from somewhere. Retail prices are acually higher now then 1 year ago and we get %50 less for our product! Well I suppose I am preachin' to the choir here but man it… Continue

Milk talk

By The Milk Lady, Mary S. Fernandes

Dear friends, it’s happening again. Milk is down below support price. It’s unreal how we can go from $20.00 milk to $10.00 milk.

What created this is greed. The world has become so greedy. I can not understand how educated people that make so much money can be so selfish and greedy. Their greed has hurt us all. The banks are in trouble, the stock market, people are losing jobs, their homes, their businesses, and dairy businesses are going out, if… Continue

It's Bubble, not Bubbles

Warning: This blog is somewhat sappy and details may have been slightly enhanced for the betterment of the story.

I believe I was about 14 years old when I first met the animal who would become the best cow ever. Dad and I had gone to a cattle sale in Fayette County, Pa., to find me a 4-H heifer for the upcoming show season. I remember watching her in the sale ring and getting excited as Dad kept bidding on her. I couldn’t understand the auctioneer, so Dad had to tell me when he… Continue
