A transition has occurred at the Fitzgerald household.
We've gone from being involved in three sports and harvest to being involved in one sport and finishing harvest.
I celebrated the transition by coming down with bronchitis and spending a beautiful Southern Idaho autumn week inside the house, pretty sure I was never going to breathe again. Every person growing up on a dairy farm has memories of calves. Even through I didn't grow up on a dairy farm, my parents did get steer calves every summer. We got to feed them. Learning how to mix milk, when to offer starter, and keeping them healthy have only benefited me today. I'll ever forget the first time I let a calf suck on my fingers. That wet warm tickly feeling still makes me giggle today.

In our Proud to Dairy Kids & Calves contest, sponsored by Vetericyn, we have four winners in three age categories. Wesley and Matthew Winch tied for the 8 & under age category with 90 points each. With the help of mother, Christina, both boys posted two blogs, 10 photos and one video each. Both videos received 89 views.
Oldest brother Randy Winch won the 9 to 13 age category, also with 90 points.
