Congratulations, Weiss Centennial Farm!

On this Friday, we’d like to share a photo from fellow Proud to Dairy member, Weiss Centennial Farm.

Earlier this month, on June 12, the Weiss family celebrated their first anniversary with “Johann LELY,” their Lely Astronaut robotic milking system, with a birthday cake.

Congratulations, Weiss family!…

Thanks be to Moms

The month of May we celebrate moms everywhere.  While the actual holiday of Mother’s Day is just over a century  old in the United States, celebrating motherhood dates back to ancient Egypt, several goddesses and of course, Christianity’s ultimate mother, Mary.

The MMMs…Moms, Mary and May.  Thanks to our moms, we wouldn’t be here without them.  Let’s take…

The Anniversary Gift that Keeps on Giving

With the Valentine's Day holiday earlier this week, we want to share the “sweet” story of Alan and Sharon Meyer, dairy farmers from Kenyon, Minnesota.

For their anniversary last November, Alan decided the perfect gift for his wife, Sharon, would be to install two Lely Astronaut robotic milking systems on their farm. It may seem an unconventional…

How Will Agvocacy Evolve in 2011?

In preparation for the upcoming New Year, we’ve reflected on our “agvocate” New Year’s resolutions, along with how we can better incorporate YouTube into our story-telling efforts.

To bring to a close 2010 and gear up for 2011 (yes, it’s only 2 days away!?), we’d like to send one final inspiration your way and share a video released by AgChat in September titled,…

Your Farm and YouTube

Last week we talked about New Year’s resolutions, asking:

“What are your ‘agvocate’ New Year’s resolutions?”

Here at Lely, we recognize there are many ways to be an agvocate, whether it’s posting on Facebook, sharing stories on a blog, sending messages over Twitter or showcasing…

Farm & Ranch and Agvocate Blogs

Do you know someone who claims to know “everything” about raising food, fuel, feed and fiber just because of what he/she hears in the news and from anti-ag activist groups? Do you

wish you could further educate that person and introduce them to a

variety of individuals who really know agriculture because they live and work in it every day?

Well, your wish has come true!…

Ohio Farm Bureau is a proud advocate

Everyone likes an advocate, especially if they are advocating for you. One advocate group has repeatedly earned its reputation of helping farmers. Ohio Farm Bureau (OFB) has been instrumental in working with farmers across agriculture to promote ag, advocate for farmers and lobby legislation to improve farming; not hurt it. Most recently OFB had their hands full dealing with media asking questions about the Mercy For Animals footage that was taken on an Ohio… Continue

Virtual Farming

With all the online games out there, you may not have heard about the game that allows you to get a Certificate of Sustainability for your online farm. O-H-I-O State Grad Takes on a BIG Challenge

During Marion County’s Annual Popcorn Festival in September, the Christmas by Candlelight in December, and even the Marion County Fair in the hot days of the summer, the lives on the dairy of Karl Wedemeyer are going on and work is never stopping.

White Diamond Farm, located in Marion Ohio, is on its way up in cow numbers, production, and reputation.

Karl Wedemeyer is a recent graduate (and when I say recent, I mean Winter Quarter recent!) of The Ohio State University.… Continue

Looking back on Issue 2

I saw this article referenced on Twitter and wanted to check it out. It is a good representation of what can happen when producers and Agriculture join together and let their voice be heard. I also think we can't assume it's over. We need to keep going. Speak up, Speak often and show your pride. Be Proud to Dairy.

"Last December, hundreds of Ohio farmers representing all 88 counties met to vote on Ohio Farm Bureau’s policies for 2009.… Continue
