Hi from Fleury's Maple Hill Farm in Richford, VT. I am excited to be part of the Proud To Dairy group, since my husband and I really are "proud to dairy". We love our job taking care of "our girls" so that they are healthy, happy and productive. We have a 35 cow registered Jersey farm and a 2000 tap maple sugar bush. We are the third generation to farm here. We have a very busy life but we both agree that we wouldn't want to do anything else. I have never participated in any social media programs before, but I recently quit my off the farm job to work full time on the farm. So I do have a little more time now. My husband Steve and I talked about it and we felt that it was time to do a little more to promote dairy farming. We would like to help educate the general public about dairy farm life and help them to realize the sense of responsibility that farmers feel toward the health and welfare of their cows. Since I am new to this group, could someone tell me just what kind of posts are done here? Are these posts seen by just dairy farmers in the group or are they accessible to any one who is interested in dairy farm life? The prospective audience  makes a difference to the type of blogs that I would post. Thanks.

I think we may have met the pyles..... We were staying in Leicester, VT and were on our way to Ticonderoga, NY, and we saw a "registered Jersey" sign. Drove into the farm and the man was in the process of getting some late hay in (this was October) and the cows were in a back pasture so we couldn't go see them. But, very nice people and beautiful country!!

Welcome Besty! Proud to dairy is an awesome site to network with fellow dairy producers and industry people. My husband and I operate a dairy in PA. Out of the 320 we milk, 90% are jersey. We're hoping to be all brown pretty soon! David (my husband) is from Shoreham VT. Do you know the Pyles? Great to meet another jersey enthusiast!

Thanks so much for joining, Betsy! This is a mostly dairy farmer audience, but posts are available to anyone interested. If you look through the other blogs under the "Blog" tab, you'll see a variety of posts, ranging from dairy producer features, consumer education posts and even a few posts asking for advice about dairy farm decisions. We have a resource for producer-written blogging sites under the "Dairy Blogs" tab. Hope that helps to get you started!

And since you've posted an introductory blog about why you're Proud to Dairy, we'd love to send you and your husband some Proud to Dairy hats! Can you please message me your mailing address?

Thanks again for joining, and please let me know if I can answer any other questions!
