We started milking with our LELY automated system yesterday evening at 4:30p.m. and at 4:00 a.m. we had put all 61 cows through the robot once.  There is a big learning curve, but the calmness of our cows has been commented on by the LELY trainees.  It is exciting.  The barn has fit well into our existing exercise yard for the cows.  Its a 24/3 training session, then we can see how it goes on their own on the 4th day.

Lots of people came to check it out, and our son's friends came to help with the night shift.  This morning Margie is back out at the robot. I am going to haul chopper wagons home today, 15 trips of 6 miles each!

I cannot seem to load photos today, it is taking way too long to upload to this site.  Will try later.

48 hours of milking at 4:30 this afternoon, all cows are through five times (one more than 2xs milking/day). Our family, some friends of our kids who are helping train cows, and the LELY cow flow specialist all went to dinner this evening at 6:30. How weird is it to go to dinner when we used to starting milking?! Anyway, we were gone two hours and eight of the 61 cows went through robot on their own, great learning curve. Specialist expected five would.
Oops! And four cows came INTO the robot milkhouse because we forgot to shut gates and all doors securely before leaving for supper. We are just too tired from the lack of sleep this week. Luckily, nothing was broken in milkhouse. We won't make that mistake again!

Can't wait to see photos Joanmarie! I hope the cows adapt well.
