1. Gone, but never forgotten: A tribute to Leontien
The dairy industry lost a great leader when Leontien VandeLaar passed away after a difficult battle with cancer. PD Editor Emily Caldwell shared her experience of interviewing Leontien for a 2012 article and how Leontien remained positive until the very end.

2. Video: Winch brothers sing “Let It Snow”
Wisconsin dairy producer Christina Winch shared this adorable video of her sons, Randy, Wesley and Matthew singing new, dairy-themed lyrics to “Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!”

3. California dairyman combines passion for video, dairy industry
This blog profiled California dairyman Brett Leyendekker who balances his duties as a herdsman with his side career and hobby of filmmaking.

“Rather than fight against anti-ag groups and organizations, let’s start back from the beginning by being transparent and providing information about what an average, environmentally friendly producer does on a daily basis,” Leyendekker advised fellow dairy producers.

The Proud to Dairy community loved this feature about dairy industry enthusiast Lancelot Holton who lives with severe vascular and heart problems. His mother, Renee, plans several trips a year to dairies around the country.

6. The best advice 
Our youngest blogger, Maddie “MaddieMoo” Cook provided us with the best piece of advice she’s ever been given: “YOU are responsible.” She said that many people told her that, and it helped to instill in her responsibility when caring for her animals and completing projects.

7. Dairy farmer brings to light the funny side of farming
Back in July, we introduced you to Florida dairyman and comedian Tim Moffett. Look for humorous writings from him in the magazine this year.

8. Pinning my Twitter to my Facebook on Tumblr with Instagram 
Blogger and Idaho dairywoman Karma Metzler Fitzgerald shared her struggles with managing so many different social media accounts. Marketing consultant Dennis Smith informed Karma that “good” social media could take just 15 minutes a day.  PTD
