Hello American Dairy Industry! My name is Nicole Schaendorf and I am currently serving Michigan as the 2009 Michigan Senior Dairy Ambassador. I am senior at Michigan State University majoring in Agriculture and Natural Resources Communications, specializing in Agri-Business Management and Public Relations.
I grew up on a dairy farm in Hopkins, Michigan, halfway between Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo. We have built our farm from the ground up, starting with 32 cows in a tiestall barn in 1994, and have been building ever since, today milking over 1,100. My family also has a custom harvesting business where we harvest crops for dairy farmers all over Michigan, Indiana and Ohio. Let’s just say I have been born and bred to love agriculture, cows and speaking with all who will listen about dairy.
With my ambassador position and career aspirations, I hope to extend my knowledge of dairy throughout the state of Michigan at local and statewide events as well as encourage discussion and education of agriculture. These goals are not limited to Michigan with the wonderful workings of Social Media I want to spread the word about what I am doing and learn about other parts of our country. Open minds bring open opportunities, let’s get to work and start growing together!
